Trip Itinerary:

Day 1--Sunday: We'll meet at 3PM at the Statesboro Inn. Statesboro is home to Georgia Southern University, so there are great restaurants nearby, as well as good paddling. Day 2--Monday: The Canoochee or the Ohoopee invite us to explore and warm up our paddling style. Our choice will depend on water levels. Day 3--Tuesday: The Ogeechee River will give us a longer day of paddling on a willow lined river with sweeping turns and large sandy beaches. Day 4--Wednesday: This is the move day where we will travel to Walterboro. On the way we will paddle Ebenezer Creek, a small tributary of the Savannah River. The guidebook describes Ebenezer as more like a cathedral than a river. The cypress and tupelo trees, with their bulging bases give the trip a magical feeling. Day 5--Thursday: Cuckholds Creek is a tidal tributary of the Cumbahee River----we will go with the flow for the day. Day 6--Friday: Edisto River and Four Hole Creek swamp. Day 7--Saturday: Horseshoe Creek and the Ashepoo River provide good wildlife opportunities and small wild stream. This trip transitions from wooded swamps to coastal marshland as we paddle thru the day. Day 8-Sunday: The trip ends at 9AM after breakfast at the Old Academy B&B in Walterboro, SC.

What is included?

-All lodging-(seven nights)-three nights at the Statesboro Inn and four nights at either the Old Academy B & B or the Hampton House B&B. (both are small B&Bs, so we plan to use both for sleeping) -All food-from 3PM day one to 9AM of day eight. Lunches will be packed and taken with us each day. -Canoes, paddles, and PFD's -Daily shuttle transport to and from the river as necessary. Everglades National Park 2011

This 1.4 million acre park harbors a rich blend of tropical and temperate species in a unique setting. The uniqueness of the park has been recognized by its designation as both a World Heritage Site and as an International Biosphere Reserve. During the months of February and March the climate is ideal. Daytime temperatures average in the upper seventies and nighttime lows are usually in the sixties. Winter is the dry season in south Florida and one can expect rainfall to come in thundershowers which average one every four days. The name Everglades suggest a boundless refreshment and, to the canoeist, photographer or outdoors person, it is a real winter treat.

This year we offer two extended canoe-camping trips.
