Saranac River Paddlesports Base "Gateway to the Saranacs... We are on the Riverwalk"
Open year-round and 7 days a week in season, this base provides a full service paddlesport shop and rental center directly on the shore of the Saranac River in downtown Saranac Lake, The canoe launch at our door is the beginning or end point for many trips in the Saranac Lakes or the Saranac River.
DIRECTIONS:
From the South (from Albany): Take Adirondack Northway (I-87) Exit 30 Rte. 73 Keene, Keene Valley Exit. Follow Rte. 73 to Lake Placid and then Rte. 86 west to Saranac Lake Village. Rte. 86 will become 4 lane on Lake Flower Avenue and in one block, Rte. 86 will turn right at the first traffic light. You should STAY straight ahead on Rte 3 West, pass the second light (Main Street), cross river and turn right on Dorsey Street We are the second building on the left.
From the West (from Syracuse & Watertown): From I-81 take Exit 48, Rte. 342 to Rte. 3 , turn left and follow it east to the village of Deferiet. Turn left on Rte 3A and the left onto Rte 3 again to get to Tupper Lake.
From Tupper Lake: Continue on Rte. 3 East to Saranac Lake. As you enter the village, the high school will be on the left and then a second school on the right. Just beyond is a footbridge overpass. Turn left just pass the overpass onto Dorsey Street. We are the second building on the left.
From the North and East (from Burlington & Montreal): From Adirondack Northway (I-87) Exit 38 Rte. 374 West toward Dannemora. In a few miles, exit right for Rte. 3 to Saranac Lake. As you enter Saranac Lake , Rte 3 turns left at the first light -- Don't turn -- STAY straight ahead one block to Broadway and turn left on Broadway. Take the second right onto Dorsey Street and we are the second building on the right.

Floodwood Outpost ".... Pristine St. Regis Wilderness canoeing at our door...."
This base is remotely located at the very edge of the St. Regis Wilderness Area in the heart of the Adirondack Lake country on the portage connecting the Saranac Lakes Chain with the St. Regis Wilderness. Numerous loop trips from a few hours to a week long trip makes this a justly popular departure point.
DIRECTIONS:
From Saranac Lake:
Follow Rte. 86 West to Rte. 186 West. Turn left on 186 and follow it to its end and junction with route. 30 South. Continue straight ahead (no turn at this junction) for 5.5 miles crossing golf course. Just beyond the golf course, at a paved four-way intersection, turn right on Floodwood Road. In 0.3 miles stay straight ahead on Floodwood Road and continue another 3.8 miles. We are just on the left, just over the Railroad Tracks.
From Tupper Lake: Follow Rte. 3 and 30 North, approximately 5 miles to where the routes divide, turn left with Route 30. After several miles pass Fish Creek Campgrounds on the left. Continue 3.5 miles to paved crossroads. Very sharp left turn onto Floodwood Road. In 0.3 miles stay straight ahead on Floodwood Road and continue another 3.8 miles. We are just on the left, just over the Railroad Tracks.

By Air: The Saranac Lake-Adirondack Airport (SLK) is just eight miles from our Saranac River base and is serviced by Continental's Commuter Air. There are direct flights to and from Albany, NY with about 3 arrivals and 3 departures daily. On Saturdays and Sundays there are fewer flights. By Bus: Saranac Lake is serviced by Adirondack Trailways (800) 858-8555. The bus leaves NYC (North Wing of the Port Authority) at 8:30am, with a few stops your estimated arrival to downtown Saranac Lake is 4:20pm in front of the Hotel Saranac. Leaving Saranac Lake around 11:30am you will be back in NYC around 9:06pm. This service runs 7 days a week. www.trailwaysny.com. Round trip in May 2007 was $139. Our base is 2 blocks downhill.
